Learn how to craft the perfect message for a funny anniversary card, with tips and examples for adult humor and inside jokes.
Quick answer
For a funny anniversary card, keep it personal, playful, and a little bit risqué—focus on inside jokes, shared experiences, and lighthearted teasing about your relationship.
When to go extra saucy
If your relationship thrives on edgy humor, a card like Stag Shop's 'Shove It Up Your Ass Anniversary Greeting Card' sets the tone for a message that matches its boldness. Pair it with a private joke or a playful reference to your intimacy to keep it fun without crossing into mean territory.
FAQ: Writing a Funny Anniversary Card
- How do I start the message?
- Open with a shared memory or a running joke you both have. For example: 'Remember when we tried to assemble that IKEA furniture and almost broke up? Happy anniversary—glad we didn't.'
- What if I want it to be a little naughty?
- Use double entendres or playful references to your private life. Keep it affectionate, not crude. Example: 'Another year of you putting up with my snoring... and me putting up with your cold feet. Love you anyway.' Pair with an adult-themed card like the 'Go Fuck Yourself Birthday Card' for extra cheekiness.
- How long should the message be?
- A few lines is plenty. Funny cards work best with a short setup and a punchline. Aim for 2-4 sentences that build to a laugh.
